CIC 15748863 – Incorporated on 29 May 2024
Registered address: Greenacres, Kenward Trust, Kenward Road, Yalding, Kent ME18 6AH
Founded in 2013 Choices Rehabs, is a consortium of independent addiction treatment providers in the United Kingdom working hard to raise awareness of residential treatment and detox with better pathways and funding to match.
As Choices Rehabs membership grows it was a natural progression to become a CIC in order to further the organisation to engage with policy makers and seek funding to support its members.
We aim to foster a collaborative and ethical sector where our members can thrive, raising standards and improving treatment outcomes for those in their care. With a foundation of a commitment to ethics and transparency, Choices works alongside peers and stakeholders to uphold our common values in all that we do. Our vision is a society where quality, ethical, evidence-based residential addiction treatment is accessible to all who need and request it.
Our members are committed to delivering high-quality, client-centred, and accessible care, and sharing lessons in best practice with each other. Our members recognise abstinent recovery as the most stable and enduring pathway to long-term remission, offering the best outcomes for health and quality of life.
Director of Choices, Richard Johnson said “Having been one of the original members of Choices, it has been a difficult road for the residential rehab sector to survive the last 10 years but the report by Dame Carol Black and the subsequent investment from central government has meant the sector is now able to meet the increase in demand for our services since the pandemic”
“ As we see a shift in demographic and drug of use, the residential sector treatment has never been more important than now and is having to respond to these changes which they can only do with investment.”
Choices Chair, Penny Williams said “We look forward to welcoming more independent rehab centres to our membership so that we can grow together and offer the ethical treatment people need.”
Hannah Shead said “I have loved being part of Choices over the years. Running residential rehabs can be a lonely job, but the Choices network offers support, encouragement and practical help. However, it is not simply a place to share challenges…Choices provides a space to stop and think….to learn and develop for the benefit of our client group.
As someone who no longer delivers services, but cares deeply about the sector, I am excited to see Choices strengthen and grow.”

CHOICES Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement
Diversity, Equality and inclusion are at the heart of CHOICES values. This statement shows how we work to ensure everyone should have a fair and equal experience in the field of addiction and recovery.
As an organisation whose purpose is to give a strong and powerful voice to people who often go unheard, the Equality Act serves as the minimum for our work. Everyone should have a fair and equal experience working with or alongside CHOICES, beyond the requirements of the protected characteristics and requirements as stated in the Single Equality Act 2010. However, we need to strive to go beyond this minimum standard and consider marginalised and minority groups and those whose characteristics are not legally protected, where appropriate.
Working with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We will consider our priorities and work to meet the diverse needs of the people and organisations we represent and challenge inequality in the following ways;
We will:
- Work to ensure our evidence base more accurately represents the diversity of the communities we serve.
- Ensure that our work includes and represents our membership, clients and society in general.
- Consult and involve individuals and groups with specific experience of issues relating to equalities, diversity, and inclusion as necessary.
- Ensure that when developing local and national networks, working groups and stakeholders, we will consider equality, diversity and inclusion throughout.
- Expand our membership and advisors to capture more insight and knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion.
